התערוכה התרחבות עוסקת בפוליטיקה קווירית ומציגה עבודות וידאו ומיצב של שנים עשר אומנים בוגרי המחלקות השונות מבתי-הספר הגבוהים לאמנות מחמש השנים האחרונות.
התאוריה הקווירית אשר עלתה בתחילת שנות ה-90 מתוך תחום הלימודים הקוויריים ולימודי המגדר, חותרת תחת היחסים הבינאריים של גבר ואישה, של הנורמלי והסוטה, שחור ולבן. היא תומכת אפוא בזהויות המבוססות על טשטוש הגבולות בין קטגוריות חברתיות ובין עירובן באמצעות בני כלאיים.
שדה האומנות הישראלי עוסק גם הוא עוד משנות ה-90 בזהות קווירית ולהט״בית דרך יצירותיהם של אומנים כמו דני זקהיים, עדי נס, רועי ויקטוריה חפץ, רפי דייגי, ותערוכות כמו +10/20/30/70 שאצר ליאב מזרחי ועוד.
התרחבות אינה מחפשת לסמן מהי יצירה להט״בית, אף שחלק מהאומנים המציגים בה שייכים לקהילה זו. התערוכה מבקשת לבחון כיצד חשיבה קווירית לא-בינארית מאתגרת את המיינסטרים דרך הרחבת הגדרות של זהות, חברה, הפוליטי וגם מגדר.
ציר ראשון בתערוכה נשען על דימוי הרצף. שלא כמו בחשיבה בינארית – האומנים חוקרים מהי זהות מגדרית, פוליטית וחברתית המוגדרת כרצף של פעולות. ציר אחר עוסק בתיאוריה הקווירית דרך עיניהם של אומנים מדור Y — אומנים שגדלו לתוך המהפכה הלהט״בית והדיגיטלית. התערוכה עוקבת אחר היחסים ההדדיים בין הקהילה הגאה ובין הטכנולוגיה ובוחנת כיצד חיבור זה משפיע על קהילת המיינסטרים.
העבודות בתערוכה בוחנות בין היתר, מהו מחקר היסטורי קווירי, גבולות טריטוריאליים, מגדריים ופוליטיים דרך המדיה הדיגיטלית, בפירוק והרכבה של זהויות דרך דמותן של ארבע נשים בדיוניות ואמיתיות ועוד.

The exhibition "Expansion" deals with queer politics and presents video and installation work of twelve artisans graduating from the various art academies from the last five years.
The queer theory that emerged from the queer and gender studies in the early 1990s undermines the binary relationship of man and woman, of normal and perverse, black and white. It therefore supports identities based on blurring the boundaries between social categories and their inclusion through hybrids.
The Israeli art field has also been engaged in queer and lgbtq+ identity through the works of artists such as Danny Zakheim, Adi Ness, Roy Victoria Hefetz, Rafi Dayagi, and exhibitions such as +10/20/30/70 curated by Liav Mizrahi and more.
Expansion does not seek to mark what is a work for the home, although some of the artists presenting it belong to this community. The exhibition seeks to examine how non-binary queer thinking challenges the mainstream through expanding definitions of identity, society, political and gender.
The first axis of the show rests on the image of the sequence. Unlike binary thinking – the artists explore what gender, political and social identity is defined as a sequence of actions. Another axis deals with queer theory through the eyes of Y-artists – artists who grew up into the LGBT and digital revolution. The exhibition traces the interrelationship between the proud community and the technology and examines how this connection affects the mainstream community.
The works in the exhibition examine, among other things, what is queer historical research, territorial, gender and political boundaries through digital media, dissolving and forming identities through the image of four fictional and real women and more.
